Indonesian Culinary Fascinated the Visitors of Rice and Roots Festival
The delight flavour of Indonesian cuisine presented at the culinary festival of Rice and Roots have enticed 250 participants that visited AMS (Alma Mater Society) Student Nest, University of British Columbia (UBC), Vancouver. This annual occasion, held on Tuesday, February 2nd, 2016, was in collaboration with ASEAN Consulate General in Vancouver and supported by the groups of students from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines and Vietnam. In particular for this year’s occasion, Indonesia presented batagor and other snacks such as lemper and layer cake.
Wonderful reception towards Indonesian culinary this year were shown by long line up made by the visitors at the Indonesian booth that served Batagor. Meanwhile the visitors were also fond of the other Indonesian snacks such as lemper and layer cake, the visitors even kept coming back for more to get those snacks.
The festival of Rice and Roots was an annual occasion hosted by Institute of Asian Research, UBC, in collaboration with students organisations as well as the ASEAN Consulate Generals in Vancouver to promote the culture and culinary of Asian people. This opportunity was also in line with the mission of the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Vancouver to pursue the promotion of Indonesian knowledge as well as potentials among the people of Vancouver.
