Indonesian Furniture Products Gained Recognition at Alberta Gift Fair
Despite the cold weather that reached 2 degree Celsius in Edmonton, Alberta, during 21st – 24th February 2016, the visitors remained attentive to visit Edmonton Expo Center and witnessed Alberta Gift Fair (AGF). During the course of the AGF in 4 days long, the exhibition had captivated the attention of around 11,000 retail buyers. As many as 700 exhibitors that had participated came from Canada and also other countries.
AGF served as a showcase of gift products, apparel, handicraft, home decor, jewelry as well as artistic products from local industries. The exhibition was scheduled twice in a year, during February for Spring/Summer products and in August to promote products relevant during Fall/Winter season. AGF was considered a highly recognized trade exhibition in Canada and had attracted many buyers, both wholesalers as well as retailer.
The Indonesian Consulate and Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) in Vancouver seized the opportunity provided by AGF to promote Indonesian products. The Consulate and ITPC then opened an Indonesian Pavilion to show the furniture products and home decor from three Indonesian importers namely Casamia, Elite Home Furnishing, Mountain House. Around 300 visitors who are mostly local buyers were spotted to visit Indonesian Pavilion.
The attractiveness and ingenuity of the design, the refined quality that live up to the expectation of local standard that put priority for green and sustainability has made Indonesian furniture products won the spotlight during AGF. It came no surprise that Indonesian furniture products had gained most recognition compared to other products. This condition poses as an opportunity and at the same time it is also a challenge as the effort to gain a larger market should also be equally matched with the efforts to maintain and improve the quality of the product.
