Indonesia and Alberta Business Forum, Targeting Investment and Technical Cooperation in Energy and Infrastructure Sectors
The Indonesian Consulate General in Vancouver, in conjunction with Alberta Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, conducted Indonesia-Alberta Oil & Gas and LNG Infrastructure Development Business Opportunities Seminar in Calgary, November 23rd, 2016. The event has successfully attracted high numbers of participants to attend the Seminar. At least 120 CEO of leading companies in oil and gas related sectors and government officials, as well as academics in Alberta were in attendance to seize the opportunity to expand networking and explore cooperation with Indonesian delegation at the event.
The Indonesian delegates comprised of representatives from Bank Indonesia in New York, Indonesian Investment Promotion Center in New York, State Owned Company Pertamina, Pertamina EP, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and North Kalimantan Province.
The Assistant Deputy Minister of Alberta Ministry of Economic Development and Trade in his welcome remarks valued the initiative to conduct the collaborative event, as part of Alberta’s diversification of economy to expand global partnership, including Indonesia.
Meanwhile, in her opening remarks the Indonesian Consul General highlighted the forum as timely. Taking into account the abundant resources of oil and gas, as well as expertise and advance technology of Alberta Province in the energy sector, and in line with the priority program of the Indonesian Government, the Consul General wished the positive outcome and follow up of the event for mutual beneficial cooperation between Indonesia-Alberta.
In his highlight remarks, the Indonesian Ambassador to Canada, Dr. Teuku Faizasyah underlined the similarity between Indonesia and Canada, in terms of abundant natural resources, the increase of middle class population, and
open governance. The strong bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Canada is expected to enhance further in the future. In addition, the Ambassador also encouraged Alberta companies to invest in remarkable Indonesia, along with other major Canadian companies which have been doing business in Indonesia for decades.
After learning the presentations by Indonesian delegates, the participants were actively engaged in the Business to Business meeting with Indonesian delegation to explore mutually beneficial cooperation in various areas in the energy and infrastructure sectors. The event has successfully served as a medium to enhance bilateral relations between Indonesia-Alberta.
