SFU Olympic 2017, Fostering Unity and Solidarity Among Indonesian Students in Vancouver
Indonesian students at Simon Fraser University (SFU) associated into SFU Indonesian Association (SFUIA) once again hosted an annual sport competition, SFU Olympic 2017, at Burnaby. The mounting snow that blanketed most of the students’ facilities at Burnaby on Sunday, January 15th, 2017, did not discourage the students to participate in the event that hosted basketball, volley and dodge ball. Each sport competition contested the students from several post secondary institutions as means to foster the unity and solidarity among Indonesian students.
Around 40 students from University of British Columbia, SFU, Langara College and Douglas College took part in this year’s competition. Apart from the participation of Indonesian students as regular contestants, SFU Olympics 2017, also drew interest from international students who pursued their study at SFU.
Supported and recognized by Indonesian Consulate General in Vancouver, SFU Olympics, has become a regular competition at the beginning of the year to unite and foster the spirit of sportsmanship of Indonesian students in Metro Vancouver.
